Key points
- This directory ranks the world's 50 busiest airports by total passengers in 2024, from the ACI World Airport Traffic Dataset, 2025 Edition.
- Ranks 1–20 are verified against ACI directly. Ranks 21–50 are DRAFT: ACI figures via a secondary compilation, not yet read at ACI.
- The 50 airports sit in 24 countries and territories — not 50 countries. Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China, not a country.
- The exact 2024 figure for Tokyo Haneda is unresolved: published values differ by 450 passengers. This page does not pick one.
- This is the only page on this site that carries the passenger figures. Region pages list the airports without repeating the numbers.
Direct answer: This is the health awareness directory for the world's 50 busiest airports, ranked by total passengers in 2024. The ranking comes from the ACI World Airport Traffic Dataset, 2025 Edition. Ranks 1–20 are verified against ACI directly; ranks 21–50 are DRAFT, taken from a secondary compilation that cites ACI. The 50 airports sit in 24 countries and territories, not 50 countries. This is the only page on this site that carries the passenger figures — the region pages list the airports without repeating the numbers, and no page gives any airport a health rating, because no public per-airport rating exists.
How to read this directory
Three labels matter, and they are used the same way on every page in this area. VERIFIED means the source page was opened and the figure confirmed. DRAFT means the figure is sourced but the source page itself was not opened — in this table, that means the ACI figure as carried by a secondary compilation. UNVERIFIED means the figure could not be confirmed, and it is not published as fact. The measure is total passengers enplaned and deplaned in the full calendar year 2024, with passengers in transit counted once. The global context is verified against ACI directly: 9.4 billion passengers worldwide in 2024, up 8.4% on 2023 and 2.7% above 2019, and the top 10 airports together carried about 9% of global traffic (ACI World blog, published 17 July 2025, updated 14 July 2026).

* The Haneda figure is unresolved
Tokyo Haneda’s exact 2024 passenger figure could not be resolved before this page was written, and this page does not silently pick a number. Two published values differ by 450 passengers: 85,900,167 (the Wikipedia 2024 table, citing ACI) and 85,900,617 (ACI’s own published figure in its final top-20 table on the ACI World blog — the same figure also appeared in the ACI preliminary release as reproduced by AviationA2Z). A third published value, 85,906,170, appears in the Japan list based on Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) reports. The rank itself is not in doubt — Haneda is fourth, ahead of Heathrow on 83,884,572 — but the exact figure is. The table therefore gives only “about 85.9 million” for Haneda, and the exact figure will be added only once the ACI dataset value or the airport operator’s published figure settles it. This was checked again on 7 November 2026 and remains unresolved.
24 countries and territories, not 50 countries
The 50 airports sit in 24 listed countries and territories: United States 15, China 11, India 2, Spain 2, and one each in the United Arab Emirates, Japan, the United Kingdom, Turkey, South Korea, France, Singapore, the Netherlands, Thailand, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Qatar, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Canada, Colombia and Mexico. Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China, not a sovereign state — counted separately here because the source table lists it separately, which is why the count is 24 listed values, or 23 sovereign states plus Hong Kong SAR if grouped. There is no 50-country list behind this measure, and this site does not present one. The five region pages follow from that evidence: North America (17 airports), East Asia (14), South and Southeast Asia (7), Europe (8), and the Middle East and Latin America (4).
Why 2024, and why not 2025
2024 is the latest year with a published full ACI dataset edition, the 2025 Edition, published April–July 2025. A 2025 ranking exists, but it is preliminary: its composition differs (the 50th airport in 2025 is São Paulo/Guarulhos, not Mexico City), and preliminary ACI figures are revised when the full dataset edition is published. This site does not adopt the preliminary 2025 ranking and does not mix 2024 and 2025 figures on one page. The ranking is re-checked annually, when ACI publishes the next World Airport Traffic Dataset edition, and this page is re-dated with each check. Ranks move sharply year to year — Shanghai Pudong rose 11 places into the top 10 in 2024, and Guangzhou Baiyun was 57th two years earlier — which is why a page that says “top 50” without a year is meaningless.
What this directory does not do
It does not rate airports for health. No public per-airport health or IHR compliance rating exists: WHO does not publish a per-airport scorecard of IHR core capacities, and CAPSCA assistance-visit reports are confidential to the State, so no per-airport CAPSCA outcome can be quoted. This site describes what the International Health Regulations expect at points of entry, and links travellers to the check-in-time authorities — the IATA Travel Centre and the CDC destination pages — instead of inventing a score. It also does not present the absence of a found item as a finding: 44 of the 50 airports had no airport-specific health item found in the research behind this area, because no airport-operator health page was opened for all 50 airports. That is absence of evidence, not evidence of absence, and no airport on this site is described as having “no measures”.
Frequently asked questions
Why is this ranking for 2024, not 2025?
2024 is the latest year with a published full ACI dataset edition (the 2025 Edition). The 2025 ranking is preliminary and was not adopted, and 2024 and 2025 figures are never mixed on one page.
Why are ranks 21–50 labelled DRAFT?
ACI publishes the top 20 figures free in its blog's image table. Ranks 21–50 come from Wikipedia's 2024 table, which cites ACI as its source — ACI figures via a secondary compilation, not figures read at ACI. They need confirmation against the ACI dataset or each airport operator's published figure before they are presented as final.
Why is there no health rating for each airport?
No public per-airport health or IHR compliance rating exists. WHO does not publish a per-airport scorecard, and CAPSCA assistance-visit reports are confidential to the State. This site describes the framework and links to the official check-in-time sources instead of inventing a rating.
